Logue takes Boone Frost Buster checkers

BOONE, Iowa (April 2, 2005) – A familiar face returned to victory lane Saturday night at Boone Speedway.

John Logue dueled back and forth with Joe McBirnie before taking the I.M.C.A. Sunoco Modified feature victory in the season-opening Frost Buster special. Joey Schaefer wound up with runner-up honors behind the five-time I.M.C.A. Speedway Motors Super Nationals champion.

Rounding out the top four were McBirnie and Scott Baker.

Nick Murty matched his victory total for all of last season with the I.M.C.A. Sunoco Stock Car checkers. Brian Blessington, Luke Veren and Mike Munson chased Murty across the finish line.

The Smith brothers from Lake City duked it out in the I.M.C.A. Hobby Stock main. Defending national champion Dustin Smith took the win ahead of 2004 Super Nationals king Donavon Smith.

Mike Smith was third and fourth went to Scott Huntrods.
