Top two finishers from each of six Thursday heats at Boone Speedway advance to the 12-lap, $1,000 to win special on Saturday afternoon during the IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals.
Scott Hogan (2004), Kevin Stoa (2005), Jimmy Gustin (2007) and Johnathan Thimmesch (2008) each have Race of Champions victories to their credit.
Stoa, who has already secured the pole for the Modified main event on Saturday, and Hogan will both make their fourth Race of Champions appearances. Gustin and Thimmesch are both in for the third time, Jim Cole for the second.
First time qualifiers are Chris Dawson, Jake Durbin, Jordan Grabouski, Clint Hatlestad, Scott Olson, Kevin Sustaire and Keith White.
Sixty-five former national, regional and Super Nationals champions, 2010 track champions or current point leaders vied for starting spots in the 22nd annual race. The winner will be added to the ballot for the 2011 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational.
Qualifying for the Sunoco Race Fuels Race of Champions for Stock Cars has also been moved up a day. Those five heats precede the Modified qualifying feature later this evening.
Hot laps have been canceled and racing will start at 2 p.m. Friday with last chance qualifying for Stock Cars.
