Front stretch facelift slated for 2011

BOONE, Iowa – The guardrail along the front stretch at Boone Speedway will be removed and replaced with a concrete jersey barrier as soon as track and weather conditions permit.

A transponder loop and other electrical wiring encased in flexible conduit with be bored through the width of the front straight at a depth that it can’t be damaged or destroyed by track prepara tion equipment.

“These projects are weather dependent. We’ll pick a week early in the season after the ground has thawed when the forecast is good to start and complete them both during the week,” promoter Robert Lawton said. “We already have the help lined up. The key thing is that we have to have seven perfect days.”

Track officials also emphasized the early 2011 project was a commitment to drivers who support Boone Speedway, as well as to maintaining the quality of weekly programs, special events during the regular season and to the IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals.
