Three Boone drivers finished one-two-three in the IMCA Northern SportMod feature.  Those drivers made it an interesting contest up front, but it was Eric Elliott who took the checkers first.  Scott Davis was second and Cory Rose was third.  Fourth place went to David Schlicht and fifth was Beau Kaplan.

The IMCA stock cars put on one exciting race  as six or seven cars battled up front for position.  Alan VanGorp had made his way into the top spot by the halfway mark of the 18-lap contest, and was not about to give up that lead.  VanGorp took the win with Donavon Smith hot on his heels in second at the checkers.  Jay Schmidt came from the twelveth starting postion to finish in third, fourth was Jerry Gifford, and rounding out the top five was Ryan Rose.

Josh Gilman took the checkers in the IMCA Modified division at Boone Speedway on Saturday, April 16, 2011.

Josh Gilman took the win in the IMCA modified A main.  He did battle early on with Craig Carlson but it was the familiar #19 of Jimmy Gustin who was to give Gilman a run for his money in the end.  Gustin had to settle for the runner-up spot and Matt Bonine from Onawa finished third.  Fourth went to Josh Most and fifth was Russ Dickerson.   Craig Carlson, the early leader, finished in sixth.

The IMCA hobby stocks fielded enough cars that two features were run.  Another Boone driver, Dean Hartwig, visited Victory Lane in the first 12-lap main event.  Hartwig led all but the first couple of laps to take the victory over Richard Yaw II.  Third went to Clarinda driver Jeremy Auten, fourth to Newton’s Calvin Dhondt, and fifth was Chris Hupp.

The second hobby stock feature saw a repeat winner from last week as Jefferson, Iowa’s Michael Murphy made it two in a row.  Murphy came from starting tenth to take the win and Eric Stanton, who started along side Murphy, finished in second place.  Third went to Cody Nielsen, fourth to Nyle Godwin and fifth was Tony Cox.

For the second time in as many weeks, Micheal Murphy stands in Victory Lane after taking the IMCA Hobby Stock checkers at Boone Speedway on Saturday, April 16, 2011.
