Sunshine prevails (finally!) on opening day of IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals

BOONE, Iowa (Sept. 3) – After rain showers earlier in the day, sunshine finally has the upper hand and track prep work is underway in earnest at Boone Speedway for night one of the IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals.

One hundred and fifty-two Hobby Stocks – just one less than the division record established in 2004 – will see action Monday evening. A pair of qualifying features determines the front eight starters in the inside and middle rows of Saturday’s main event.

Opening night also boasts 179 Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods in 20 heats. A “B” feature will help set the starting grid for tonight’s qualifier. The top eight in that race advance to the inside row of Saturday’s big dance.

Drivers following the Deery Brothers Summer Series still had most of an hour left before registration closed for their Late Model tour event. Twenty-seven were already in the pits.

The 17th event of the 2012 tour pays $2,000 to win, plus a bonus of $30 for each of as many as 50 sanctioned starts made during the regular point season.
