Farm fleet gets refurbished ride, practice canceled

BOONE, Iowa – Promoter Robert Lawton and his crew continue to make preparations for the upcoming season at Boone Speedway.

Along with the purchase of a new jet motor for the track’s jet dryer, machinery used for the famed farming sessions have also seen some upgrades. Among the improvements to the equipment used during track prep sessions is a refurbished tractor.

Although planning for the 2013 season remains in full swing, this weekend’s scheduled practice has been canceled due to cold and wet conditions.

The first race of the season is scheduled for Saturday, April 6. The annual Frostbuster event will include IMCA sanctioned Modifieds, Stock Cars, SportMods and Hobby Stocks. Pit gates open at 2 p.m. and grandstands at 3 on April 6. Hot laps are slated for 4 and the first green flag of the season is set to wave at 5.
