BOONE, Iowa – A busy day is planned for drivers and fans of Boone Speedway on Saturday, April 13. Prior to that evening’s opening points race of the season, the annual car show will be held on the streets of downtown Boone.
The car show will be held between 8th St. and 9th St. and is scheduled to run from 1-5 p.m. During the event, fans will have the opportunity to stop in at area businesses to cast their votes for the best appearing car. As a bonus, those businesses will offer special sales all afternoon.
The car show will conclude with a parade of race cars making its way through town to the race track for the evening’s racing program. Car show winners will be presented their awards that night at the speedway.
Five weekly divisions will return to action for the 2013 season. AMSOIL IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modifieds, IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars, Karl Chevrolet IMCA Northern SportMods, Picketts Salvage IMCA Hobby Stocks and Mod Lites will again comprise the weekly Saturday program.
Pit gates open at 5:30 p.m. on April 13 and grandstands open at 6. Hot laps are scheduled for 6:45 with the first green flag set to wave at 7:30.
To assist preparations for the car show, drivers interested in displaying their cars are asked to contact event organizer Jerry Vansickel in advance at email@example.com.
The busy April 13 will follow the first event of the season, which is the Saturday, April 6 season-opening Frostbuster. Details for that event are available at www.raceboone.com.
