BOONE, Iowa – Cool spring weather has forced a change to start times for the month of April at Boone Speedway.
For the month of April only, earlier start times will be in effect with pit gates opening at 2 p.m. and grandstands at 3. Hot laps will start at 4 during the month of April with racing at 5. These earlier times will take effect starting with the season points opener this Saturday, April 13.
Due to the earlier starting times, the car show has been postponed from its original date of April 13 to Saturday, May 4. Aside from the date change, the remainder of the car show details are expected to remain the same.
Prior to the May 4 Boone Chamber night, the annual car show will be held on the streets of downtown Boone.
The car show will be held between 8th St. and 9th St. and is scheduled to run from 12-4 p.m. During the event, fans will have the opportunity to stop in at area businesses to cast their votes for the best appearing car. As a bonus, those businesses will offer special sales all afternoon.
Cookies Sauce and Seasonings of Wall Lake, Iowa will be presenting the entrants with their famous “Wings and Things” hot wings kit, and the Boone Speedway will give the driver with the “Best of Show” Award a free pit pass to the evening’s races.
Five weekly divisions will return to action for the 2013 season. AMSOIL IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modifieds, IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars, Karl Chevrolet IMCA Northern SportMods, Picketts Salvage IMCA Hobby Stocks and Mod Lites will again comprise the weekly Saturday program.
