Smith is first in photo finish for Stock Cars
BOONE, Iowa (Sept. 5) – Inches made the difference when Donavon Smith won the IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals Stock Car championship in 2009.
That modest margin of victory was the same in Wednesday night’s qualifying feature at Boone Speedway.

Record Breaking 30th Annual Super Nationals
An event record 870 cars will have competed at this year’s Super Nationals by the time the final checkers fly at Boone Speedway following the conclusion of Wednesday’s race program.
That number includes 251 Modifieds, 189 Stock Cars, 180 Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods, 153 Hobby Stocks, 55 Mach-1 Sport Compacts and 42 Late Models.

Jeff Anderson
Two-time Super Nationals champion Jeff Anderson will start from the pole in tonight’s qualifying feature for Stock Cars.
Anderson owns top trophies from 1995 and 1999.
The one other former champion in the field didn’t fare as well when it came time to draw: 2009 king Donavon Smith will start 16th in the field of 20.

More rain late Tuesday washed out the seven “B” features for Hobby Stocks. Those races weren’t rescheduled because of the time it would take to make them up on Wednesday and the definite lack of space in the pits for all those cars.
