Boeckman leads flag to flag in bid for fifth title

BOONE, Iowa (Sept. 5) – Andy Boeckman will start from the pole Saturday night, in his quest for a career fifth crown at the IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Cenex.

Boeckman led from start to finish in Monday’s Hobby Stock qualifying feature at Boone Speedway, holding off a determined Devin Smith to win by a car length.

Top 10 finishers will make up the inside row in the big dance. Lining up behind Boeckman, the 2003, 2005, 2007 and 2008 champ, and Smith will be Michael Murphy, Stac Schroeder, Craig Graham, Eric Stanton, John Watson, Dustin Van Horn, Chad Gentz and Kyle Robinson.

Watson was the hard charger, racing from 26th starting to seventh.

First- and second-place drivers from each of 14 heat races comprised the qualifying feature field. Boeckman made the main event for the eighth time, Smith, Murphy, Stanton and Watson each for the third, Gentz and Robinson for the second, and Schroeder, Graham and Van Horn each for the first.
