Bushnell and Watson Repeat, Stensland Takes First Win of the Season

Saturday night racing action at the Boone Speedway found drivers in the Stock Car and Hobby Stock classes repeat their wins from last week, and there was a new face in victory lane in the Mod Lite class.

The Mod Lite 15-lap caution free race was led flag-to-flag by Jeff Stensland. Stensland took his first win at the track this season.  David Schmalzried took the runner up spot, followed by Michael Kennedy, Josh May, and Joel Keenan.

Cory Bushnell repeated his win from last week in the IMCA Stock Car 18-lap event.

The IMCA SportMod feature found Nick Roberts take his second win of the regular points season in addition to his Frostbuster win in early April. Veteran racer, Rick Ringgenberg finished in second, Tim Love was third, fourth went to Scott Davis and Andy Tiernan was fifth.

The IMCA Modified feature went to Todd Shute who took his third win at the Boone Speedway this year. Mike VanGenderen, who started alongside Shute in the fourth row, finished second. Third went to early leader Kelly Lyons, fourth was Joel Bushore and Russ Dickerson rounded out the top five.

Cory Bushnell repeated his win from last week in the IMCA Stock Car 18-lap event.  Jerry Gifford chased Bushnell across the line to finish second.  Eric Brown was third over Ty Hill in fourth and Robert Stofer in fifth.

Once again, it was John Watson taking the IMCA Hobby Stock feature.  Watson, the point leader, worked his way through the field from starting twelfth, to grab his sixth straight win, his seventh of the regular season, plus winning the Frostbuster as well.  Curt Reed came from row five, to finish in second, third went to Matt McDonald, fourth was Austin Luellen, and Aaron Rudolph finished in fifth.

Next Saturday night, June 16, will be a Father’s Day Special and Little League Night, with racing in all five divisions.  Hot laps are 6:45 with racing at 7:30.
