Rocky Alexander
Here’s a ride with a uniqie pedigree: The 2009 Wolfe Chassis previously owned by defending IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Cenex champion Jeremy Christians carried Rocky Alexander into Saturday night’s main event for Stock Cars.
Alexander had won the track title this season at his home town Estevan, Sask., Motor Speedway and is the first Canadian driver to make the big dance at Boone in any division.
“Our goal was to get in the first night,” said Alexander, now focused on qualifying for the Sunoco Race Fuels Race of Champions. “There’s a lot of really good competition here and you have to have some luck in the draw.”
This is Alexander’s second Super Nationals and he said last year’s Boone outing paid educational dividends this September, as did pitting next to Christians. Alexander had just 10 starts in the former Christians car going into Wednesday.
A three-time feature winner in 2011, he’d raced exclusively at Estevan before Super Nationals got underway. He won the track title there with an engine he got by exchange in the third week of the season.
