Sunday Night Tailgate set for Sept. 2 at Super Nationals
BOONE, Iowa – Although the racing doesn’t start until Monday, the fun begins Sunday, Sept. 2, at Boone Speedway for the 2012 IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals.
On what has become a busy day of pre-tech for early arriving race teams, the Sunday before the start of Super Nationals will offer some new entertainment this year with the Sunday Night Tailgate.
The rock and roll band Helforstout has signed on to provide musical entertainment for race teams and fans who make the trek early to Boone. A stage will be set up in the staging area of the pits for fans to take in the live music performance.
“We were looking for something for Sunday night to entertain and kick the week off right,” explained IMCA Vice President of Operations Brett Root. “Helforstout is an up-and-coming rock and roll band that plays music that fits our event really well.”
Helforstout, based out of Cedar Rapids, got its name from the Viking word meaning “built sturdy,” which goes hand-in-hand with the long-standing week of championship racing in Boone.
In addition to the live music, chili and beer will be provided at no charge to those in attendance. Admission to the event is also free.
The tech area on Sunday opens at approximately 10 a.m. for those race teams who arrive early. After a busy day of tech and pit stall parking, the Sunday Night Tailgate is set to begin when the sun goes down at around 8 p.m.
