9.6.10 SportMod QualifyingBOONE, Iowa (Sept. 6) – A record 168 Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods are already in the pits at Boone Speedway this Labor Day, opening day of the 28th annual IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals at Boone Speedway.
That’s three more than last year. Paralleling its growth member and sanction-wise, the division has seen higher entry numbers every year since its debut at Boone in 2005.
More than 300 cars will see action today: 131 Hobby Stocks had gone through tech by 1:30 p.m. while 32 Late Model drivers had already drawn for starting spots in Deery Brothers Summer Series heat races.
Kevin Blum of Colona, Ill., had one of the biggest smiles in the registration tent today, after drawing the pole for the first Late Model heat.
Hot lap sessions for all three divisions were scheduled for 2 p.m. Along with the 50 lap, $2,000 to win Deery feature, the Hobby Stocks qualify the inside and middle rows of 10 for their Saturday night main event and Northern SportMods qualify their inside row of 10 for Saturday’s big dance.
