Slight Changes for Boone Speedway due to Covid19

As Boone Speedway gets back into what we would consider “normal” by allowing fans to rejoin on the grandstand side June 6th there were still a few uncertainties left in the air due to Covid19.  

The first Super Saturday for May 30th was changed to a weekly show, and the upcoming Hawkeye Challenge set for June 13 will be rescheduled for a later date. Karl Chevrolet Dirt Trucks have also been canceled for 2020. 

Along with having to reschedule some of the special events, the IMCA Modified point fund bonus for year-end champions will be put on hold. This was a sponsor funded bonus up to $5000 for the IMCA Modifieds, that was increased from $2000 in 2019.

Due to Covid19, the speedway will only be able to open VIP tower access at half capacity as well. Some of those VIP tower nights have become available for up to 20 persons. If restrictions lift to full capacity, the speedway can adjust.

“As of right now, we are taking things a couple weeks at a time and then evaluating for our special events and increased purse shows.  We haven’t had entry fees for our increased purse IMCA shows during the season and for us to continue to do things that way, we need to look at what happens over the next few weeks.” said Boone Speedway’s Coty Mallicoat.

Some of the speedway’s sponsors that support these events and funds were affected by Covid19.  The Speedway is working with these companies to continue special events for 2020.

“We will work on getting some of these events back on track and hopefully can have our first Super Saturday, Hawkeye Challenge, and King of the Hill races sooner than later,” said Mallicoat. 

The P1P Modified Challenge / Watermelon Classic Night, July 4th, and Hawkeye Challenge are main events the speedway will focus on during the weekly season before the postseason events like Prelude to the Super Nationals and IMCA Super Nationals hit.  

Saturday Night Series weekly points racing will be back with the fans on June 6th. Pit Gate open at 3:30, Grandstands open at 4:00, Hotlaps at 5:00, and Racing at 6:00pm.
