May 10, 2025 (BOONE, IA) – Iowa’s Action Track, Boone Speedway revved up another Saturday Night Series event with 126 total cars in attendance. In addition to our SNS Weekly Points Racing for our IMCA divisions, the IMCA Modifieds vied for $1000 prize in the D&E Outside Services King of the Hill. The King of the Hill locked in six of the top eight racers in attendance based on track points, then raced in 10 more wheelmen based on heat race finishes. The line-ups were then broken down in four car shootouts three laps at a time with the top two racers advancing in a bracket style format. Business started to pick up early on and there would be several lead changes in each quarter final. Semi-final action left us eight cars battling for the final four spots. Things got interesting when Izac Mallicoat and Jake McBirnie, both of Boone, would jockey for the same position with their cars making contact and both cars going into a spin. Mallicoat would hang on and drive back to the checkers making the final. Todd Shute would win the other semi final leaving Mallicoat, Shute, Zane Devillbiss of Farmington New Mexico and Jamaica, Ia’s Matt Meinecke in the final four. Shute would lead the first two laps of the shootout, Mallicoat would make a last lap pass coming to the checkers to take the $1000 and be crowned King of the Hill.

The first main event to the track was the Carquest Truck and Auto IMCA Mod Lite feature. Josh May of Desoto, IA would lead the majority of the race with Austin Gray nipping at his heels for most of the event. A late race stoppage would occur as Terry Brown took a tumble in turn two. He would walk away unscathed. This red flag would reset the field with May continuing to captain the ship. With just two laps left in the main event, Gray would motor past May and pick up the Moffitt Ford Checkers. Cory Sonner, Tanner Gannon, and Bryan Zehm would round out the top five.

Second to the track would be the Elmquist Towing IMCA Sport Mod main event. As the green flag dropped, it was quickly followed by the caution flag and a complete restart. Several cautions later in the event, we would continue to see Ryan King out front from the start of the race. As the race went on, we would work under caution and see the race track widen out to the favor of Kelley, IA’s Cam Reimers. Reimers who started in the sixth row zigged and zagged his way through the carnage to the top spot. Once the green flag stayed out, Reimers would have nearly a five second advantage on the field. Another late race caution would come about restacking the field as Camdan VIncent would advance 15 spots to follow Reimers to the checkered flag. Dusty Masolini worked from the 14th starting spot to third, Randy Havlik fourth, and Cory Pestotnik would end up fifth.

Next up were the D&E Outside Services IMCA Modifieds. Early on in the main, cars were racing side by side and three wide throughout the field. After several laps the track would sort out around the top finding Paul Nagle at the front of the pack. Nagle would face many challenges from Devilbiss who started 10th and Cory Sauerman throughout the next several laps. Nagle would hold on out front to pick up his first win of the 2025 season. Devilbiss, Sauerman, Izac Mallicoat, and a 23rd place starting Jeremy Mills would be the top five finishers.

Boone Moose Lodge IMCA Stock Cars next rolled onto the speedway. Alan Van Gorp and Robert Stofer would lead the field early on in the race. Stock Cars raced three and four wide behind the leaders for position. Kevin Opheim would throw his hat in the mix racing in the top four positions for the majority of the event until he would slip up and fall back to seventh by the end of the race. Former IMCA Super Nationals winner, Devin Smith would find his preferred line around the Speedway on the top of the race track. He would work his way from the sixth row to pick up the victory. Josh Daniels, Austin Bouzek, Johnathon Logue, and David Smith would complete the top five.

Final main event of the evening saw the Pickett Salvage IMCA Hobby Stocks. Early on, it appeared that John Watson and Joe Doran had the fastest cars on the track. As the race sorted out, they both could see the leaders out front but several caution flags would continue to reset the momentum of the pair. Watson who started 12th and Doran who started 18th, would fail to get to the lead before races end. In the meanwhile, Kolby Sabin and Cory VanderWilt would work up from the fourth row starting positions to get to the front. By the end of the race it was Sabin, Vanderwilt, Justin Frederick, Watson, and Joey Young all battling for the lead to the end.

We are back in action May 17th for Saturday Night Series action. Hot Laps at 5pm with Racing at 6pm. For more information visit www.raceboone.com
